56 New Channels in East Jakarta Built in 2024

Some 56 spots of new water channels were already built in 2024, to handle flooding in the rainy season in East Jakarta.

East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency's Development Section Head, Tengku Saugi Zikri said the channel was built with an e-catalog auction system divided into four stages.

He said, all the channels built used U-Ditch and box culvert concrete materials with different dimensions, ranging from 60x60 to 200x200 centimeters.
He explained the 56 spots of new channels located on Jalan Bulak Raya to Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Klender, Duren Sawit along 259 meters; Jalan Kalisari III, RW 10, (Segment of Jalan Menara to Jalan Pondok Sari Raya) Kalisari, Pasar Rebo along 699 meters.
Then channel on Jalan Penegak 4, RW 001 and 002 to Jalan Pramuka Raya, Palmeriam, Matraman, along 911.60 meters; Jalan Semar, RT 008, 009, 010, 011/RW 002 Munjul, Cipayung, along 1,253 meters; Jalan Gotong Royong, RT 09/02, Cijantung Urban Village; and Jalan Puskesmas, RT 05, 06, 07/RW 01, Baru Urban Village, along 913.80 meters, and other spots.
Especially for Jalan Jambora Raya, Cibubur along 785 meters, personnel built a channel using a jacking system. This work started on July 18 and was completed on November 29, 2024.
"Alhamdulillah (thank God), when it rains several times with high intensity, there are no more floods in this area. Previously, the location was often flooded up to 40 to 80 centimeters when it rained," he closed.
